February 13, 2013
You are invited to join us for a simple service of prayer and the imposition of the ashes as we begin the season of Lent. Psalm 51 reads: “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.” As we receive the ashes, we open our hearts to be fashioned anew. It is a privilege and a joy to walk the path toward Easter together, as we listen together for the still-speaking God in our midst.
Listen to the long stillness: New life is stirring New dreams are on the wing New hopes are being readied: Humankind is fashioning a new heart Humankind is forging a new mind God is at work. This is the season of Promise. (Howard Thurman)

Twenty three of us from FCC and seventeen Casa residents combined our voices to sing Christmas Carols last Sunday. We were treated to special music by Annette Howitt and Carol Chivers and by Jessica McDermott who led us in a special rendition of Rudolph as she “signed” the song for us. Then we all gathered for punch and cookies and conversation.
Please join us this Sunday
We will combine informal worship with our business meeting while nibbling on finger foods.
Please bring a plate of appetizers or cookies to share.
(Anything sweet or savory that doesn’t require a spoon or fork.
For example – cubes of cheese, crackers, brownies, deviled eggs, cookies, olives, etc.)
The Church Council will provide beverages.
Please note that, while only members of FCC are
entitled to vote on business items, everyone is
welcome to attend and to participate.

You are invited to join with other members and friends as we resume
our informal weekly worship gatherings.
We will share readings, pray and sing together, and share communion,
as we come together to grow
as a more compassionate and loving community of faith.
We will meet each Sunday at 4:00 p.m.,
but this first Sunday will be a special celebration!
We will gather afterwards for a simple supper —
food and friendship for all!
Supper is provided, and all are welcome.
