NATE KLUG was born in the Midwest, grew up in Massachusetts, and has been living in California since 2015. He is a graduate of the University of Chicago and Yale Divinity School, and he has previously served UCC churches in central Iowa and Orinda, CA. As Pastor of First Church Redwood City, Nate plans and leads our biweekly worship, provides pastoral care to members and friends, and works with the church leadership to envision a bold future for our ministries in the community.

Alongside ministry, Nate’s other calling is writing. His poems, essays, and translations appear widely, and his latest book of poetry, Anyone, was published in 2015. He lives just north of Berkeley with his wife Kit Novotny (a minister at First Congregational Church of Berkeley) and their little terrier named Increase.

Nate loves hearing about where God is moving in your life! To set up a visit here at church, or at your home or local coffee shop, please write to him at nate@firstchurchrwc.org. In the case of a pastoral emergency, Nate is available by cell phone at (617) 549-8178.
